2011 Holocaust Study Trip Scheduled for Germany, Austria
and The Netherlands

HOUSTON, TX (Aug. 30, 2010) - Holocaust Museum Houston will host an affordable, educational tour of Germany, Austria and The Netherlands next March for docents, volunteers and friends of the Museum.

The tour runs from March 12 to March 24, 2011, but registration is required by Dec. 15, 2010.

The trip will focus on Western Europe and the narratives of Holocaust history and memory and will provide in-depth explorations of Holocaust history, suited to those interested in studying and experiencing authentic sites of the Holocaust era.
 
The trip will begin in the city where the Nazis rose to power, Munich, Germany. Participants will explore Munich's history through its landscape, architecture and historic sites, learning the storied history of these structures and spaces. From Munich, participants will take a one-day excursion to Austria to visit Mauthausen and Salzburg and then return to Germany to continue explorations there before heading to The Netherlands.

Chaja Verveer - a child survivor, HMH Board member and commissioner of the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission - will travel with the group, offering a very personal and unique experience to her fellow travellers.

The cost for the escorted motorcoach tour is $3,750 per person based on double occupancy. Insurance and airfare are additional.
