SOUTHERN BRAZIL ADVENTURE
brzil back of horses
March 20-27, 2010

Brazil is a wonderful place to soak in the sun and enjoy the beauty.  Our one week trip to the South starts with 3 days on the water--sailing,  rafting, cruising, enjoying it all. Then a drive to the mountains --where waterfalls and forests surround the countryside. Live on a working ranch, horsebackride from village to village, visiting gauchos along the way and partake in a family BBQ and dance. If you want an authentic Southern Brazil experience, this is it.

We can help you arrange a trip to Iguaçu Falls or Rio as an extension.

Do-Good
in New Orleans
new orleans
May 27-31, 2010

A fun and meaningful experience. Help in food pantries and rebuild homes sided by side with those who will be living in them. Meet authors and others who have made a difference in NOLA, as well as attend a gospel choir service on Sun and a Shabbat service on Fri. There's time to explore the French quarter, enjoy live music and much more. We know that a few days is hardly enough to make a difference in such a massive disaster, but our work will be twofold. Working hand in hand with the people we are helping- will give them a sense of support and hope for a seemingly never ending task. We also hope that this experience will encourage people to return home to tackle some of the community building issues that impacted the most while you are there. We will have a singles track and a family track Information here

EXPERIENCE INDIA ON AN EXOTIC ADVENTURE
April 8-22
A colleague is taking a small group to experience KUMBH MELA IN HARIDWAR INDIA. The Kumbh Mela is one of the most sacred days for Hindus to bathe at certain locations in the Ganges River.Tented cities are built along the river and pilgrims will arrive from all over India and the rest of the world. The Kumbh Mela, for the rest of us, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is a wonder to see this crowd of merchants and buyers, musicians and performers, and seekers and holy men dressed in every imaginable costume - from the finest clothes to the half or full naked "naga saddhus". As the sun rises on the Ganges this colorful ceremony is an exotic and unforgettable sight. In the evenings the ghats become breath takingly beautiful with thousands of marigolds and offerings floating in the waters of Ganges. The trip also includes a visit to India's first national park, Corbett Tiger Reserve, Taj Mahal and India's Ghost City.  If you are interested in this unique trip, call or email us for more information.

Roi Klein, Fallen Israeli War Hero

Prime Minister Netanyahu, We will Back You:

Don't Crush Final Remnant of IDF Hero Roi Klein

US Jewish Community: Please sign the Roi Petition
http://www.atzuma.co.il/roi/

Roi Klein was the young IDF Commander who shouted "Hear O Israel" and intentionally leaped onto a grenade in the Second Lebanese
Life, losing his life to save his fellow soldiers. This petition says that the home of the widow and orphans of IDF hero Roi Klein
(located in an "outpost" which is opposed by the US Administration) must not be destroyed. Roi made the ultimate sacrifice for our
people -- let's do something for his young orphans. For more particulars:
http://www.ynet.co.il/english/articles/0,7340,L-3850362,00.html

Israeli "settler" problems can and must be solved, simply by issuing this sector their long overdue governmental building permits.
Please -- sign the Roi Petition and pass on URGENTLY to all your pro-Israel and pro-IDF friends:

Thanks for helping Israel.

London, England Installation of Rare Mikveh Bath at Jewish Museum - Photo call

From: Dina Wosner

Photo Call

Installation of a rare archaeological discovery, a medieval mikveh (Jewish ritual bath), before it goes on public display for the
first time at the new Jewish Museum

Date: Wednesday 24 February 2010
Time: 1000hrs – 1100hrs

Place: Jewish Museum, 129 – 131 Albert Street, London, NW1 7NB

RSVP: Anna Cusden – anna.cusden@kallaway.com <mailto:anna.cusden@kallaway.co.uk/020> 020 7221 7883 /07967 836279

A rare example of a medieval mikveh dating from c.1270 which was discovered in 2001 in the City of London, is in the process of
being installed at the newly transformed Jewish Museum in Camden Town. The mikveh, which plays a key role in Jewish spiritual
cleansing rituals for example at the end of a woman's monthly cycle and before the marriage ceremony, will be one of the most
important exhibits at the new Jewish Museum. The museum has undergone a £10m transformation over the past two years and will reopen
to the public on 17 March 2010.

You will be able to see archaeologists in the early stages of the installation process which is taking place over the next two
weeks.

The presence of the mikveh in the new museum will be a tangible reminder of the long history of the Jewish community in Britain, one
of the country's oldest immigrant groups. It will be displayed on the free entry ground floor of the extended museum and will be an
important starting point for telling the story of Jews in Britain since 1066.

The mikveh was discovered by a team of archaeologists excavating a site in Milk Street in the City of London in 2001. Preserved in
near perfect condition, the mikveh is a fine example of workmanship in Reigate stone. The house beneath which it was found was lived
in by a Jewish family called the Crespins, until the 1290 Expulsion of Jews from Britain.

NB: Photographers will only have access to the ground floor of the museum and this photo call is only for the mikveh bath
installation. The official press launch of the Jewish Museum is on Tuesday 16 March from 09.30hrs – 12.00hrs.

For further press information about the Jewish Museum and for images, please go to:

JOIN THE AFSI CHIZUK MISSION TO ISRAEL, MAY 9-17, 2010

Americans for a Safe Israel/AFSI has been leading Chizuk (support) missions to Israel for over fifteen years. Our concentration has
always been on the threatened communities of Israel. Our upcoming trip, May 9-17, will follow the same mandate, although the
itinerary is always different.

Participants make their own travel arrangements, and meet the group in Ben Gurion airport on Monday morning, May 10, at 8 AM when we
board our private bus and head for the Shomron. One of our must visit places will be the threatened home of Major Roi Klein in the
Hayovel neighborhood of Eli in Samaria. David HaIvri will be our guide through Bet El, Tapuach, Kedumim, and as many of the Shomron
communities as is possible to visit. Batya Medad will give us a special introduction to Shilo. Overnight will be at the beautiful
Ashel HaShomron hotel in Ariel.

We'll continue to Yerushalayim where the festivities celebrating the re-unification of Jerusalem in 1967 will begin with a gala
event at Beit Orot on Har HaZaytim. A tour of the Temple Mount with Rabbi Richman, exploring east Jerusalem with DanLuria, marching
in the Yom Yerushalayim parade, and being in Ir David for the Moskowitz Zionism awards event are all part of our program.

The liberation of Hebron occurred one day after the liberation of Jerusalem, and so AFSI will be in Hebron with David Wilder to
celebrate that event. Israel Danziger will guide us through the surrounding struggling communities in the southern Hebron hills.
Back in Yerushalayim, Arieh King, will lead us on a special insiders tour of the communities within the Jerusalem municipal
borders which are under threat.

Shabbat will be spent in Yerushalayim with Ateret Cohanim leading us on a walking tour of the Old City and Sunday will be devoted to
viewing the situation in Sderot with Alon Davidi, touring the new Negev communities with Dror Vanunu and other good friends from the
former Gush Katif communities, and meeting with the Shomrim, who are guarding the Jewish farms from marauding Bedouin Arabs. Our
mission concludes with a gala farewell dinner in Ashkelon.

THERE IS NO OTHER TRIP THAT COMPARES TO AFSI'S IN ITS COMMITMENT TO HANDS ON SUPPORT FOR THE PEOPLE & LAND OF ISRAEL. Please call
AFSI, 212-828-2424; 1-800-235-3658; or email: afsi@rcn.com <mailto:afsi@rcn.com> to make your reservations. For reports and photos
of previous AFSI missions, and a detailed itinerary of the upcoming May trip, you are invited to visit the AFSI website at:

March 11 Colorado DNA Shoah Project

From: Ellen Shindelman Kowitt

Please publicize The DNA Shoah Project coming to Denver by passing on the attached press release and/or flyer to your email contact
lists or place in your calendar and e-newsletter.

Seventy years after the Holocaust, scores of families still seek information about loved ones lost in the chaos of war. But a
unique, non-profit effort at the University of Arizona is working to change that by building a database of genetic material in an
effort to match displaced relatives, provide wartime orphans and lost children with valuable information about their biological
families and eventually, when the database has reached sufficient size, assist European governments with Holocaust-era forensic
investigations.

The DNA Shoah Project at Congregation Emanuel

Seventy years after the Holocaust, scores of families still seek information about loved ones lost in the chaos of war. But a
unique, non-profit effort at the University of Arizona is working to change that. Syd Mandelbaum, a scientist with a background in
genetics and the son of two Holocaust survivors, has joined with Dr. Michael Hammer, a renowned geneticist at the University of
Arizona, to create the DNA Shoah Project. They are building a database of genetic material from Shoah survivors and their immediate
descendants in an effort to match displaced relatives, provide wartime orphans and lost children with valuable information about
their biological families and eventually, when the database has reached sufficient size, assist European governments with
Holocaust-era forensic investigations.

On Thursday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m., Congregation Emanuel in Denver welcomes Matthew Kaplan, research coordinator for the DNA Shoah
Project, for a presentation on this innovative program. Facilitators will be available after the talk to assist those interested in
