"Identity Card" a rare glimpse at history through the eyes of a child soldier

Funds raised will go to organizations dedicated to rebuilding Haiti

MONTREAL - Quebec Jewish Congress Charities Committee (QJCCC) in cooperation with la Fondation SurVie-Barakabaho, Page Rwanda and
Human Promise is hosting a final performance of "Carte D'Identité" by former 'Child Soldier' and Rwandan actor Diogène Ntarindwa.
The Funds raised from this encore performance will be donated to organizations dedicated to rebuilding Haiti.

May 6-16: TRAVEL - Germany: Focus on Interreligious

This trip, sponsored by Germany Close-Up, will have a particular focus on interreligious affairs. Participants will have the singular opportunity to represent the American Jewish community at Kirchentag, a major gathering of some 100,000 young German Protestants and Catholics, and to spearhead other highly unique interreligious outreach efforts in the academic and church spheres. This trip is designed specifically for people with an interest and with experience in interreligious affairs.

August 1-10: TRAVEL - Student Trip to Berlin

This trip, hosted by Germany Close-Up, will take top students and AJC Goldman Fellows to Germany for a 10-day experience.  This trip is open to current students (undergraduate and graduate) and 2010 Goldman Fellows.

          Americans For a Safe Israel/AFSI has the privilege of meeting countless brave Israeli heroes through our Chizuk (strength) missions to Israel which have been taking place for the past 15 years on a semi-annual basis. Our upcoming trip is scheduled for May 9-17, 2010, and you are invited to join us. Visit the www.afsi.org website for information about past trips and the preliminary itinerary for the May trip.

          Some of the people we have met in the many contested places then come to New York. They hope to speak about their issues to as large a group of people as can be assembled in one place. AFSI is pleased to help make some arrangements for them.

Aluminum creates a party-like atmosphere, combining physical theatre, puppetry and special effects to bring various forms of metal sheets, tubing and balloons to life, in original and visually arresting ways. Israeli Artistic Director Ilan Azriel created The Aluminum Show after mastering new and innovative techniques to manipulate different kinds of metal.

Kenneth Turan is the film critic for the Los Angeles Times and NPR's Morning Edition, as well as the director of the Los Angeles Times Book Prizes. He is the author or co-author of 9 books including: Never Coming to a Theater Near You: A Celebration of a Certain Kind of Movie; Now in Theaters Everywhere; and Free for All: Joe Papp, the Public, and the Greatest Story Ever Told. Turan teaches nonfiction writing and film criticism at the University of Southern California, has been a staff writer for the Washington Post and TV Guide, and has served as the Times' book review editor.
